Grant Work Moving Forward

After being slowed by red tape, the grant funding that will put in a new furnace and take care of some moisture control problem is finally moving forward. The first step in the work will take place in March, when Crosskey Architects will take measurements, formulate engineered drawing and create bid documents for the purchase and installation of the propane fired furnace. Once the bids go out, work will commence on needed foundation repairs and gutter work. It is hoped that before Farm Day our electrical work can take place, which will incorporate some repairs that will help facilitate outdoor electrical usage for Farm Day and the Highland Festival. Once Farm Day is over, the actual furnace replacement will take place. All the work being done will be reviewed by the State Historic Preservation Office to assure the work conforms to standards which will minimize any negative impact on the historic fabric or look of the house. Once all of the physical work is done, a fresh coat of paint will be applied to the exterior of the house. If everything goes according to schedule, all work should be finished up by the time the Scottish Festival takes place.
